Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Tribal Child Support Services is now a program underneath the umbrella of the Social Services Department. Mission Statement

The mission of the PBPN Tribal Child Support Services office is to improve the well being of all Native American children by promoting the emotional and financial responsibilities between parents for their children.

Child Support Enforcement Core Mission:

  • Locate Parents
  • Establish Paternity
  • Establish Orders
  • Collect Support
This provides: Child Support Prevention, Family Violence Collaboration, Health Coverage, Healthy Family Relationships, Economic Stability, and Engagement of Fathers from Birth

Tribal Program MUST:
  1. Identify the jurisdiction of the Tribe for child support purposes
  2. Develop procedures for accepting all applications and providing services required by law
  3. Protect the due process rights of individuals (in legal process and for program clients)
  4. Develop administrative and management procedures
  5. Provide safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
  6. Maintain records
  7. Provide copies of required law
  8. Locate parents and their assets
  9. Establish paternity
  10. Establish and modify child support orders
  11. Administer income withholding (employer education) and other enforcement techniques
  12. Collect and distribute child support
  13. Process intergovernmental cases
  14. Meet tribal performance targets
