2017 Gaming Commission Election Results

MAYETTA - A Run-off election is needed for the 2017 Gaming Commission Election. None of the vying candidates yielded the 50% plus 1 vote needed in order to take office.

Saturday, July 22, 2017 ballots were tabulated with the following results:

Gaming Commissioner #1 - 735 Votes Counted

Ann Simon DeCouteau 212 votes received 28.84% of vote

Dorothy Kiyukan 259 votes received 35.24% of vote
Lisa Wamego 264 votes received 35.92% of vote

Gaming Commissioner #2 - 748 Votes Counted

Edward "Joe" Mitchell, Jr 216 votes received 28.88% of vote

Larry Mzhickteno 234 votes received 31.28% of vote

Carrie Wabaunsee O'Toole 197 votes received 26.34% of vote

Jona Potts Rupnicki 101 votes received 13.50% of vote

The results will become official record on Thursday, July 27, 2017, pending the three day contest period. 

Dorothy Kiyukan and Lisa Wamego advance to the Run-Off Election for Gaming Commissioner #1 and Edward "Joe" Mitchell, Jr. and Larry Mzhickteno advance for Gaming Commissioner #2. Ballots for the Run Off Election will be mailed to registered tribal voters on Friday, July 28, 2017 with the ballot count occurring on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Old Bingo Hall beginning at 9 a.m.
