Casino to Host All Star Baseball Exhibit and Celebrity Golf Classic

July 29, 2013 –

Prairie Band Casino & Resort Supports

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

Casino hosts museum exhibit, celebrity autograph signing and All Star Celebrity Golf Classic.

Mayetta, KS; July 26, 2013- Prairie Band Casino & Resort is proud to support the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in Kansas City, Missouri this July as the host venue for the They Were All Stars traveling museum exhibit and the All Star Celebrity Golf Classic. Similar events took place last year at Prairie Band Casino & Resort in celebration of the Rawlings® Negro League Gold Glove Awards and were met with great success.

They Were All Stars Exhibit: This travelling exhibition was developed by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in conjunction with Kansas City’s hosting of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in 2012. This free-standing exhibit chronicles the twenty players who transitioned from the Negro Leagues into the Majors and then became All-Stars. It features rare photos, biographical sketches and other interesting factoids, ranging from 1947 when Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier through the final integration of the Major League in 1959. The exhibit will be on display continuously in Prairie Band Casino & Resort’s event center July 29 through August 3. Admission is free to the exhibit, but donations to the museum are encouraged at www. nlbm.com.

Celebrity Autograph Signing: On Sunday, August 4th baseball legends will host a public autograph signing from 1pm-3pm in the Prairie Band Events Center. Scheduled to appear are Ken Berry, Al Fitzmorris, John Mayberry, Amos Otis, Mike Torrez and Frank White. This event is free and open to the public. Attendees may receive one autograph per celebrity.

All Star Celebrity Golf Classic: Prairie Band Casino & Resort is proud to host a celebrity golf tournament at Firekeeper Golf Course to benefit the NLBM on August 5th, 2013. The above-mentioned celebrities will participate as well as other local celebrities. Tournament participation includes a practice round of golf, luxury accommodations and a cocktail reception at Prairie Band. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the NLBM. Space is still available. Interested participants can register by calling Chele Kuhn, Sales Manager, at (785) 966-7642.
