The Firekeepers Art Market was held last Saturday in one of the Prairie Band Casino & Resort convention center rooms. It was sponsored by the Firekeepers Elder Center.
LaVerne Hale, Activities Coordinator for the Firekeepers Elder Center, is seen with her son Chago Hale who was in the fashion show wearing a vest made by Jackie Mitchell. Chago is a Tribal Council member and also sings with the Little Soldier Drum Group.
PBPN members who participated in the fashion show were, from left to right, Sylvana Levier, Eddie Joe Mitchell, Julia Lewis, Bernadette Lewis, Andy Mitchell, Juanita Jessepe, Num Hale, and Olivia Pewamo. Not pictured are Rose Hale and Chago Hale.
Monica Suke sold her beadwork and jewelry and that of her family at the market.
Linda Tecumseh sold a variety of Potawatomi t-shirts that she has designed.
Sylvana Levier with her grandmother Rose Jessepe. Sylvana is this year’s PBPN princess.
T. Graham Berry is a PBPN who has recently moved back to the area and was selling beadwork and hammered copper creations.
The Mitchell family had a couple of booths at the market and LaVerne Hale(standing far right) was photographed checking them out.
