Alfred Lyle “Butch” Knight, the son of Willis Knight and Rozella (Mzhickteno) Knight, was born January 22, 1949, in Holten, Kansas and departed this life January 10, 2015, in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 65.
Alfred was better known to family and friends as “Butch”. Butch attended grade school in several different states from Texas to South Dakota. He graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1968, where he participated in the wrestling program. He worked hard, practiced hard, and as a result, was state and regional champion for several years.
He and his older brother, Eldon, better known as “Beau”, were baptized together on Easter morning when they were in late elementary school. He lived in Stilwell until his death.
Butch was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp after serving from 1969 to 1971 during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty and brother, Eldon “Beau” Knight. His surviving family includes, his parents, Willis and Rozella Knight, of Stilwell; sisters, Sue Perdue and husband, John Mark, of Colorado and Joy Knight, of Stilwell; sister-in-law, Judi Hunter, of Anadarko, aunts, Norma Knight and Ramona Mason and husband, Arch, of Tulsa and many nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Montesoma Baptist Church in Okemah with Pastor Jay Downing officiating. Interment will follow at Montesoma Cemetery under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
