Billy “Bill” Barger
1942 – 2016
Billy “Bill” Barger, 73, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 at a Topeka hospital. He was born November 2, 1942 in Humphrey, Arkansas, the son of Roy and Mary (Vanderblomen) Barger.
Bill graduated from Hoyt High School in 1961.
Bill was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 40 years before retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers Local No. 307.
Bill married Celeste Fuller in 1963. They later divorced. Bill later married Linda (Kruger) Russell in 1988. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Paul (Penny) Barger of Hoyt, Tom (Theo) Barger of Topeka, his step-son, Lonnie Russell of Topeka, six grandchildren, Courtney, Josh, Cody, Caleb, Derrick and Trent, one great-grandson, Jayden. Other survivors include his brother, Jim Barger of Topeka and sister, Betty Nioce of Horton.
Bill was preceded in death by one step-son, Lance Russell, his brother, Robert Barger, his brother-in-law, Irl George and sister-in-law, Bernie Kruger.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the funeral home.
