Brenda McClure (Miksekwe) Obituary

Brenda Ann McClure (Miksekwe)
April 1, 1960 – January 8, 2024

Brenda McClure, Miksekwe, 63, of Mayetta, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born April 1, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Carsie and Elmira Seymour McClure. She graduated from Fort Sill Indian School in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1978. She moved to the Mayetta area in 1994.

Brenda was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and was of the Presbyterian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, twin grandchildren, Mia and Sage Scates, who died in 2011, a brother, Martin McClure and a sister, Debra Lynn McClure.

Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Scott and husband Shane, Mayetta, two brothers, Kelly McClure, Mayetta and Windel McClure, Chicago, a sister, Sophia Peralta, Chicago, and five grandchildren, Sobie Scates, Carsie Scates, Sylas Scott, Lillian Scates and Anna Scates.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 13th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Burial followed in the Potts Cemetery.
