VANDERBLOMEN
Mayetta- Elizabeth A. Vanderblomen, 68, of Topeka, formerly of Mayetta, died Wednesday June 15, 2011.
She was born February 3, 1943 on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Common Land the daughter of Levi and Marie (Wishteyah) Wahquahboshkuk. She was raised and educated in Mayetta and had lived in Topeka for the last several years. Elizabeth worked at Stormont Vail Hospital in surgical preparation and the dietary department. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and the Native American Religion. On April 5, 1965 she married James S. Vanderblomen in Holton. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by: her son, James Vanderblomen of Topeka, KS; her daughter, Celeste Murphy of Mayetta, KS; her sister, Connie Moore of Topeka, KS; her brothers, Roy, George, Pete and Gonzalo Wahquahboshkuk all of Mayetta, KS; and her five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice and Ada Vanderblomen and Christine Cruz, and her brothers, Leonard and Wallace Wahquahboshkuk.
Native American service will be Friday evening June 17, 2011 at the Native American Church (west of 158th and I Road). Burial will be Saturday in Wezo Cemetery west of Mayetta. www.mercerfuneralhomes.com
