Larry Dean Shopteese Jr
December 23, 1983 – February 14, 2024
Larry Dean “Junior” “Wabnomitt” Shopteese, Jr., 40, of El Dorado, KS, formerly of Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and Kickapoo Communities, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in El Dorado. He was born December 23, 1983 in Horton, KS, the son of Larry D. Shopteese, Sr. and Lythia J. (Thomas) Shopteese.
Junior was a member of Drum Religion and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Junior was a good hearted, giving and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He enjoyed joking and visiting with his nieces and nephews, fishing, watching cartoons, drawing and painting.
Survivors include his mother, Lythia Shopteese of Mayetta, KS; sister, Rebecca (Shopteese-Thomas) Harman of Hoyt, KS; 2 brothers, Edwin Shopteese and Spencer Shopteese both of Mayetta, KS; nieces, Hayley, Hope and Myra; 5 nephews, Cheegwah, Alex, Simon, Thomas and Komoah; aunt, Norma Mzhickteno of Mayetta, KS and an uncle, Auggie Thomas of Horton, KS.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry D. Shopteese, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Hollis Thomas and Minnie Soldier and paternal grandparents, Simon Shopteese and Rebecca Mattwaoshshe.
Drum Services were Sunday evening, February 18, 2024 at the Danceground Building. Burial was Monday, February 19, 2024 at Danceground Cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton was in charge of arrangements.
