Maurice Floyd Pahmahmie Obituary

May 30, 2011 –

PAHMAHMIE

Kansas City, KS- Maurice Floyd Pahmahmie, 77, of Kansas City, KS passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at his home. He was born November 5, 1933 on the Potawatomi Common Land (west of Mayetta, KS) the son of Pete and Gertrude (Moore) Pahmahmie. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Maurice graduated from Marty High School in Marty, South Dakota. He moved from Mayetta to Kansas City in 1960. Maurice worked for Davey Tree Company and later for the Y.M.C.A. in Kansas City as head custodian.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his eight siblings, Lorraine Shenk, Elizabeth Morstorf, Orville Pahmahmie, Lena Wishkeno, Delores Wilson, Grace Wahwassuck, Edward Pahmahmie and Wanda LaHue.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta. Interment will be in the Shipshee Cemetery west of Mayetta. Family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 Wednesday at the church. Maurice will lie in state Monday and Tuesday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS.
