Myra Lee “Osh te se kwe” Matchie Obituary

MYRA LEE MATCHIE

MAYETTA- Myra Lee “Osh te se kwe” Matchie, 68, of Mayetta, KS passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at her home. She was born May 16, 1946 in Holton, KS the daughter of Peter Paul and Blanche (Masquat) Matchie.

Myra lived in Holton and Mayetta all of her life. She worked at the Senior Mealsite and for Social Services on the common land for several years. Myra was a member of Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and Drum Religion.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Ruta Mendez and Marji Heim both of Mayetta; 2 sons, Benny Nioce of Topeka and Raymond Nioce of Holton; 3 sisters, Tutti Kern of Mayetta, Hedy Noland (Jr.) of Holton and Betty Jean Rice of Mayetta; 2 brothers, Roland Matchie (Janis) of Holton and Lester Sumner of Hoyt; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Myra was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, Paul A. Lawrence on September 21, 2014 and Sam Barrow on December 11, 2014; a sister, Edwina Dickinson and a brother, John Matchie.

Drum Services will be Sunday evening, February 1, 2015 at the Danceground Building. Burial will be Monday afternoon, February 2, 2015 in Thunder Eagle Cemetery, south of Holton.
