MAYETTA- Pauline Marie “Na-bit-no-kwe” Mzhickteno DeWitt Persinger, 84, of Mayetta, KS passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was born October 2, 1926 in Mayetta, KS the daughter of Pete and Mary Ann (Matchie) Mzhickteno. Pauline graduated from high school in Oklahoma. She lived in Oklahoma, Topeka and Kansas City. She worked as a silk finisher in dry cleaning until her retirement in 1992. She then moved to Mayetta in 1993. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Pauline married Howard DeWitt, he preceded her in death. She later married Harold D. Persinger, he preceded her in death. She was also preceded by 3 brothers, Marvin, LaRue and Vern Mzhickteno.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Diane Reynolds of Roland, OK and Carol DeWitt of Mayetta, KS; 2 sons, Harold D. “Buddy” Persinger, Jr. of Mayetta, KS and Marshall D. Persinger of Topeka, KS; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Mary Matchie Cemetery at the Matchie home place.
