Peter Joseph Engels Jr. Obituary

Peter Joseph Engels Jr.
January 29, 1969 – August 11, 2023

Peter Joseph Engels, Jr., age 54, of Wabeno passed away at home while under the care of Compassus Hospice with his family by his side. He was born January 29, 1969, to Peter J. Sr. and Mildred (Whitefish) Engels in Rhinelander. He was the youngest child of his family.

He was employed with the Potawatomi Carter Casino as a grounds keeper for several years. Peter enjoyed hunting and fishing as he got older in his free time. He was a proud, loving father to Sadie, Destiny, and Dorian. He liked attending any type of off-road racing event as a young man. He had the best hair and an infectious laugh, some traits his family will certainly attest to. They may also say he was a “Momma and Daddy’s Boy,” none the less, his love and affection for them was endless. He really enjoyed spending most of his time with his two girls, Sadie and Destiny. Overall, his family was of utmost importance to him.

He is survived by his children, Sadie, Destiny and Dorian Engels, father, Peter J. Engels Sr., Sisters, Tina (Thomas) Leonard, Denise Huettl, Sylvia (Harold) Moss, Debbie (Doug) Danielson, Florence St. Clair, Pam Daniels, Susie Wakeman, brothers, David Engels, Dean (Eunice White) Whitefish as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Peter was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred, brothers, Arlen and Orville Wamego, sister, Annette Whitefish, and nephew Phillip Wamego.

Visitation was held on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the Sunnyside Community Church, Carter, WI. Services were held Monday, August 14, 2023, with Rev. Don Dewing presiding. Burial followed at the Potawatomi Tribal Cemetery in Blackwell.
