It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sheryl Jo “Chofa” Rodriguez. Sheryl
was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 26, 1964 to Verna and Jose Rodriguez. She passed away in her home on February 23, 2022, at the age of 57. She is survived by: her daughter (Marie Dastych), 15 grandchildren (Desiray Bonilla, Elizabeth Casteel, Mariah Gimm, Phillip Bonilla, Earl Casteel Jr, Luke Casteel, George Casteel, Marcus Gimm, Joshua Gimm, Joseph Casteel, John Gimm, Jeremiah Gimm, Michael Gimm, Mya Harris, Jeremy Harris Jr.), her great-grandson (Salem Santiago), and several family members and friends. Sheryl was preceded in death by her mother Verna (Shegonee) Rodriguez, her father Jose Rodriguez, her son Fredie Bonilla, and her daughter Cecilia Bonilla. A burial was held on Thursday, March 31st 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Mount Olive Cemetery (3800 North Narragansett Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60634).
