Teresa Kay Jessepe Num Ko Quah, 54, of Horton, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2009 at her home. She was born on March 11, 1955 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Paul & Julie Puckee Mijissepe. Teresa Kay graduated from Chilocco Indian School in 1974 in Chilocco, Oklahoma and then attended Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe, Native American Church, St. Leo’s Catholic Church and enjoyed the fellowship of many denominations. Survivors include a son, Solon Jessepe of the home, Horton, Kansas; daughter, Verinna Mitchell of Horton, Kansas; brothers, Irvin and James Jessepe both of Horton, Kansas; adopted brother, Lester Sumner of Mayetta, Kansas; sisters, Adeline Horn of Parkville, Missouri, Nancy Smartlowit of Toppennish, Washington, Bertha Hale of Hiawatha, Kansas, Ruthanne Ramirez of Mayetta, Kansas and Lois Thomas of Horton, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. Teresa Kay was a beloved mother, sister, aunty and friend. She will be greatly missed. Native American Church Services will be at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Wayne Jessepe’s home, 165 K-20 on the Kickapoo Reservation. Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Swah-Kah-Ah family cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com.
