MAYETTA: Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation members are all invited next Monday to the casino to celebrate the official kick-off of the upcoming Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation golf course and to meet PGA golfer Notah Begay III whose company NB3 Consulting is designing the course.
The official launch of the 18-hole golf course will take place at 11 a.m. in thePrairie Band Casino & Resort Events Center. At that time Begay and Steve Ortiz, tribal chairman, will speak to the crowd, and other members of the Prairie Band golf course design/build team will also be on hand to answer questions. Details are also expected to be revealed like the golf course’s new name and other information about its innovative design features.
Begay is the only full-blooded Native American on the PGA Tour and is a three-time All-American teammate/roommate of Tiger Woods. In addition to winning four PGA Tour tournaments, he is only the third player in the history of professional golf to shoot a 59 in a professional event.
Tribal Council Member Junior Wahweotten has been spearheading the golf course project and working closely with a team of PBPN government employees and leaders from the casino to get to this point. Landscapes Unlimited, NB3’s development partner, is presently constructing the course that is located north of the casino and is utilizing the services of the PBPN Public Works Department.
The media, numerous dignitaries and community leaders are all expected to attend and it is hoped that tribal members will also come celebrate that day. An RSVP to pbgolf@pbpgaming.com is appreciated.
