MAYETTA: The Judicial Center will be closed next week from Sept. 14-16 so that staff can attend training.
The new Judicial Center officially opened on December 8, 2009 and includes a court room, large jury waiting room, Judges’chambers, administrative offices, and three small conference rooms. It is located next to the Prairie Band Health Center at 11444 158th K Road.
The PBPN Tribal Court was established in 1993 through the PBPN Constitution and was expanded in 1998. A judicial administrator schedules court activities and supervises a staff of three. The Judicial Council is comprised of a judge of the District Court, and the justices of the Court of Appeals. Additional components added since Constitutional changes were approved by the General Council in 2008 are an Employment Disputes Tribunal, the Peacemakers Circle, and a Healing to Wellness Court.
