MAYETTA: Firekeeper Golf Course has announced that NCAA National Championship coaches Bill Self and Roy Williams will be playing alongside Firekeeper designer Notah Begay III in a charity skins event at the Grand Opening event on May 15.
The course officially opens April 1 and the Firekeeper Golf Course plans to donate the first five tee times to charity. In order to help raise funds, the tee times are being auctioned off with the highest bidder being allowed to give to the charity of his/her choice. The first tee time will go to the highest bidder and the second tee time to the second highest and so on. On March 28-29 tribal members will also get to play the course and several media outlets are expected to report on the course that day. Between the Lines with sportscaster Kevin Kietzman will be broadcasting live from Firekeeper on Monday updating the bids as they come in. On Tuesday the final bid amounts will be announced live from Firekeeper on Greenwave Sportstalk with Mark Elliott.
Firekeeper Golf Course is a 240-acre course located across the road from the Prairie Band Casino & Resort. It has a clubhouse with a snack bar and pro shop and is owned by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
