(MAYETTA) Marcus Oliveira (Menominee/Potawatomi)won his light heavyweight boxing match over Ryan Coyne last Friday night by beating him in a 11th-round technical knockout at Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas.

The win means that Oliveira will get a chance to advance to fight against Beibut Shumenov of Kazakhstan who is presently the WBA champion.

Oliveira lives on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Common Land and works in the shipping department at Prairie Band Casino & Resort. His trainers are Erik Riley (White Mountain Apache) of Haskell Boxing Club in Lawrence and Cody Wilson (Choctaw) Tushka Training in Mayetta. Promoters are Don King Productions and Underground Boxing.
