MAYETTA: The bus that carried some PBPN elders arrived back at the common land this afternoon and below are some photos of tribal members getting off the bus who were greeted back home by family and friends.
This year’s Gathering was hosted by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, based at the Pine Creek Indian Reservation which is south of Battle Creek, Michigan. For information about the Gathering, click on PBPN tribal member and Native News Network’s Editor-in-Chief Levi Rickert’s story at http://www.nativenewsnetwork.com/potawatomi-keepers-of-the-fire-gather-to-strengthen-tribal-nations-unity.html
The bus unloaded in front of the Bingo Hall. Travelers left August 5 and made overnight stops in between on the long drive round trip to Michigan.
These little ones had a big welcome back sign to meet Maxine Begay who was on the bus.

Laura Abeyta stopped to pose for the camera.
Larry Cole said he was tired but had a great time. The group also attended the Language Conference this year in addition to the Gathering.
