PBPN Seeks Community Input for Development of Comprehensive Safety Action Plan

October 3, 2024

In September 2024, the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation initiated the development of the Safe Streets and Roads For All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan. The SS4A program was established under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. This is achieved by using data analysis to characterize roadway safety problems and community collaboration to strengthen a community’s approach through projects and strategies that address the most significant safety risks.

PBPN SAP Vision

The PBPN intends to reduce fatalities and injury crashes on a local level. Through a Safe System Approach, the PBPN will align its goals with the State to achieve zero deaths on the roadways.

PBPN SAP Goals

  1. Strengthen partnerships with PBPN agencies, organizations, and community groups to educate and promote roadway safety.
  2. Use data-driven analysis to identify risks and prioritize efforts to reduce fatal and serious crashes for all roadway users.

Community Input

Gathering roadway safety feedback and recommendations from the PBPN community is a key element to the development of the SAP. The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation would like to ensure that the SS4A Program reflects the experiences and priorities of PBPN community members.
