MAYETTA: June is busting out all over and fun activities and events begin this weekend on the Prairie Band Common Land with more on the way next week.
Tonight is the Prairie Band Casino & Resort Keeper of the Fire BBQ that is taking place at the RV Park located behind the casino. Several BBQ teams will compete against each other and good barbeque, cool beverages and lots of entertainment awaits those who plan to attend. The event will run through tomorrow.

Next weekend, the Prairie Band Pow-wow begins on Friday night at Prairie People’s Park that is located near 150th & M Road. Over $100,0000 in prize money will be won by the best registered singers and dancers. The pow-wow runs through Sunday. Last year, there were more than 500 dancers and 15 drum groups that performed. Grand Entries are at 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition, a 3-Day Special Flea Market Craft and Bake Sale will be held at the Bingo Hall, June 12-14 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Bingo Hall is located at 162nd & Q Road in Mayetta.

During the pow-wow weekend the Nation Station Convenience Store plans to stay open until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
