Prairie Band Casino & Resort Announces Major Expansion

Mayetta, KS; January 23, 2017 – On January 20, 2017, the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation tribal members approved a major expansion for Prairie Band Casino & Resort.

The expansion and upgrade is set to span over a 2.5-year period. The plan includes a new 80-room hotel tower with several additional suites, a new spa, party rooms, a fitness center, and an indoor/outdoor pool. Interior upgrades will include an expansion and complete renovation of the existing Buffalo Grill, expanded gaming floor, and a new administrative wing. The casino design company will transform the current casino floor by delivering a complete floor remodel to include new signage, lighting, décor, and carpet. The design team will also transform the existing hotel lobby/lounge area into an energetic social bar/gathering space. A 500-space on-site parking garage, which will be connected to the current event center, will top off the main property expansion additions.

The plan also provides funding for improvements on the 150th Road corridor from the Highway 75 overpass to the casino entrance. These include improved lighting and landscaping as well as an opportunity for improvement to the Highway 75 overpass that will add a unique Potawatomi design and feel to the interchange.

Prairie Band Casino & Resort continues to be voted ‘Best of Topeka’ in numerous categories each year and is a significant contributor to the local economy and communities. The property was voted ‘Best of Topeka – Large Employer’ in 2017 and continues to be an employer of choice with competitive benefits and a fun working atmosphere. The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation donates annually to the local communities. The expansion will create numerous new jobs – further boosting the local economy and charitable contributions to local communities.

Prairie Band Casino & Resort opened January 12, 1998, and is owned and operated by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. It is located on tribal land just north of Topeka, Kansas. The casino offers over 1,200 slot machines and 25 table games including Poker, Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and more.
