Prairie Band Casino & Resort Charity Classic to Host Top Field of Symetra Tour Players

Volvik Race for the Card and Potawatomi Cup Leaders Competing at Mayetta, KS next week

(Mayetta, KS) – As the 2014 Symetra Tour season nears its end, the quest for a 2015 LPGA card is coming down to the year’s final three September events. With LPGA membership and some extra prize money at stake, a strong field featuring 9 of the top 10 players on the tour and all 10 Potawatomi Cup points leaders will join other top competitors for at Firekeeper Golf Course in the inaugural Prairie Band Casino & Resort Charity Classic presented by Toyota September 5-7.

With the exception of Marissa Steen, the Tour’s leading money winner whose three wins earned her automatic LPGA Tour status through the remainder of 2014, the following 9 ladies are at the top of the Volvik Race for the Card standings going into the event next week:

In a new competition introduced this year by the four Potawatomi Nation casinos who host Symetra Tour events, $14,500 in prize money will be awarded to players at Mayetta which concludes a season-long four-event competition for the Potawatomi Cup.

Players have received points so far based on performance at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, the Four Winds Invitational and the Island Resort Championship. Potawatomi Cup points are handed out based on finish at the four events. The winner of an event receives 500 points, while second place receives 300 and third place receives 190.

Based on the current standings, there are 56 players that have a chance to win the Potawatomi Cup in Mayetta.

The player that has the most cumulative points at the end of the Prairie Band Casino & Resort Charity Classic will receive a $6,000 bonus check. There is also $8,500 available for the top five finishers.

During the trophy presentation on Sunday at Firekeeper Golf Course, the Potawatomi Cup winner will also be recognized.

Topeka Native To Compete: Courtney Mahon, a former UMKC women’s golf coach and three time Kansas State Champion will compete on a sponsor’s exemption. She currently resides in Phoenix, AZ.

Fan Information: Tickets to the Prairie Band Casino & Resort Charity Classic presented by Toyota are $10 for adults and free for children 16 and under and will be available at Firekeeper Golf Course on event days with free parking.
