MAYETTA: For the fifteenth year in a row the Prairie Band Casino & Resort (PBC&R) ranked 1st place in the Best Casino category in Topeka Capital-Journal’s Best of Contest for 2012. For the award, the PBC&R beat out Harrah’s North Kansas City, Sac & Fox Casino, Golden Eagle Casino and Hollywood Casino at the Kansas Speedway. In addition, they also scored 1st place wins for Best Employer, Best Place for Live Entertainment, Best Place for Lunch and Best Restaurant Service, and took four 2nd place awards, nine 3rd place awards and two 4th place wins.
Below is a break out of the other 1st place wins:
Best Employer-Prairie Band Casino & Resort over Calhoun’s Jewelers, A-1 Plumbing, Frito Lay and Dotson Eyecare.
Best Place for Live Entertainment –Prairie Band Casino and Resort over Jeremiah Bullfrog’s Live, Topeka Performing Arts Center, Uncle Bo’s (Ramada Hotel) and the Topeka Civic Theatre and Academy.
Best Place for Lunch-Longhouse Buffet over Tapas Mexican Food (Lawrence), Blue Planet and Coyote Canyon (tie), LaRocca’s Pizza, and the Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant.
Best Restaurant for Service-Three Fires Steakhouse over Tapas Mexican Food (Lawrence), Texas Roadhouse, Chili’s Grill & Bar and Olive Garden Italian Restaurant.
In other rankings, The PBC&R took second place in the following categories: Best Golf Course (Firekeeper), Best Locally-Owned Restaurant (Three Fires Steakhouse), Best Place for Breakfast (Longhouse Buffet), and Best Place to Take a Day Trip or Sunday Drive.
Third place rankings were for Best Bar, Best Receptionist, Best Place for a Wedding Reception, Best Area RV Park, Best Margarita, Best Deli, Sub or Sandwich Shop (Buffalo Grill), Most Romantic Restaurant (Three Fires Steakhouse) and Best Convenience Station (Nation Station).
The casino also placed fourth for the Best Buffet (Longhouse buffet) and Best Steakhouse (Three Fires Steakhouse).
