Prairie Band Potawatomi to Participate in Native American Day at the Capitol Tomorrow

MAYETTA:  The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation (PBPN) Tribal Council will participate in the first Native American Day tomorrow morning at the Capitol.  The day is being planned by Rep. Ponka-We Victors (Ponca-Tohono-O’odham) from District 103 near Wichita who is the first Native American woman ever elected to the Kansas legislature.

Tribal leaders are scheduled to meet legislators on their own and will also attend a proclamation signing in the Governor’s Office at 9:30 a.m.  At 11 a.m. they plan to convene to the House floor where PBPN Chairman Steve Ortiz will give an opening prayer before the recognition event by Rep. We-Victors.

The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation is also providing lunch for the event that is scheduled to wrap up early afternoon.
