MAYETTA: Road & Bridge crews began re-striping the asphalt roads on the common land today and are alerting motorists to be prepared for possible delays or stops. The project began at the corner of 150th Road and K Road and work will continue to the east. Signage and traffic controls are in place and wet paint areas are also part of the project.
Hardy Eteeyan, Road & Bridge crew chief, said “The safety of our workers is a major concern to us and we are asking motorists to please slow down and practice safety when they see crews on or near the roads.”
Brenda Pahmahmie, Road & Bridge specialist, reported that, in addition to the re-striping, workers will be installing ditches, culverts and tubes, and mowing frequently along the roadways. There will also be heavy trucks and equipment that will require room to maneuver and that workers tend to have reduced hearing due to equipment and the wind. Another safety guideline she recommended is to allow at least 100 feet when motoring from behind.
