MAYETTA: Scott Aikin, a Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation member, has been appointed the national Native American Liaison for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Aikin has more than twenty years experience in working with the Federal government in carrying out its trust responsibilities toward tribes throughout the United States.
According to Dan Ashe, director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Aikin will work with the Department of Interior and the Service’s leadership to ensure that the agency’s actions and authorities are implemented in ways that respect and acknowledge tribal sovereignty and the importance of tribal wildlife stewardship.
