MAYETTA: Tribal Council has been participating in the inauguration festivities of Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback this week in Topeka and will wrap up the week by attending his State of the State address Thursday night.
Last Saturday night, Chairperson Liana Onnen and Treasurer Hattie Mitchell were among a thousand others that attended the inaugural ball at the Capital Plaza and yesterday they both presented a Pendleton blanket to Gov. Brownback during his inaugural address at the Capitol. Other Tribal Council members who attended the inaugural address were Tom Wabnum and Camilla Chouteau.
Brownback gave his speech on the opening day of the 2015 legislative session that focused on how there is a crisis of the family in our country and the many economic challenges that he suggests are growing to slow. He is expected to outline his budget plan for the next two years during his State of the State address that is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday night at the Capitol.
