MAYETTA: Tribal member Tim Shane will race his drag car in the PINKS ALL OUT event coming to Heartland Park in Topeka this weekend. The popular Speed channel television program will be televised this Saturday around 8 p.m. (sunset). Race-car enthusiasts in the area can also attend the two-day track event that begins this Friday.
By day Shane is a mechanic/welder with Goodyear in Topeka. He is an avid racing fan and competitor and has turned his passion into a family affair. His children, Alyssa, 16, Carley, 12, and Brian, 10, make up his pit crew. Shane lives on the common land and the children attend Royal Valley(RV) Schools and the crew wears purple t-shirts in RV’s honor. Even the car, which is an 87 Ford Thunderbird tube drag chassis car, has purple components inside. Shane built the engine in the car from scratch and has been building cars for several years.
Shane has entered other drag racing competitions in the region including in Dallas, St. Louis, and Brainard, Minnesota and is hoping for a big win at Heartland. For more information about PINKS ALL OUT go to http://www.hpt.com/.
