Some youngsters from a day camp at the Y.M.C.A. in Topeka were treated with a tour of the buffalo by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation’s Lands Department today.
There were 44 new babies born this season.
Chris DeCoteau, who directs the Bison program for the Lands Department, led the tour of approximately 50 children who began their tour in Prairie Peoples Park west of N Road and 150 Rd. Following viewing the buffalo outside, the youngsters went to the Boys & Girls Club where more informative displays were set up about the buffalo by the Lands crew.
The herd numbers around 170.
